If you would like to experience times gone by that is also an up-to-date sport, look no further. You can book a carriage drive for just one or hire a carriage for you & your friends. You can also learn how to drive a carriage at the hands of one of the British Driving Society's leading instructors, Caroline Dale-Leech. It is essential to pre-book all activities.

Tours by Carriage & Pair of Horses:

Situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park we invite you aboard one of our carriages to experience a truly memorable tour as we travel in style through the Derbyshire Dales taking in the beautiful scenery of this spectacular area. Carriage rides can be arranged from 1/2 hour local trips to a 3-4 hour tour to Chatsworth House & return.

- £30 per person, per hour for individual bookings.
- 1/2 hour trip @ £15 each.
Both include Museum entry.

Weddings Carriage Hire:

On your special day, travel to & from your venue with all the romance of a bygone era complete with liveried coachman and footman. For that very special occasion a selection of horse drawn carriages are available for hire. Many have appeared regularly on TV and the big screen for period films, such as; Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, Emma, Jane Eyre, Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire, to name but a few. All are professionally presented to a high standard with Liveried Coachman and Footman together with a matched pair of grey horses.

Have you always liked to have a go at new things? How about trying an old thing instead? There’s nothing quite like the clip clop of the horse in front of you as you travel at a gentle pace through beautiful countryside. Whether you are a complete beginner or wanting to progress to driving a pair, Red House Carriage Museum can help.

£65 per session with single turnout including driving and theory.
£250 for full day 10.30am – 3.30pm for the more advanced driver.

Clients require a pair of driving gloves and suitable head gear e.g. Flat cap or baseball cap or hard riding hat.
